 Toushe Thorny Chicken

Toushe Thorny Chicken

"Thorny plant" is a plant growing in the mountains, named after the thorns all over its stems and officially called acacia. "Thorny chicken"—a chicken stew with thorny plant in it—is a traditional dish of Pingpu tribe, which can help strengthen human bones, cure internal injuries, and nourish the body. Before cooking the dish, one has to slice the stems and roots of thorny plants into pieces and put them to dry under the sun. In the making, these sliced stems and roots should be put into a pot and boiled in soup for more than four hours. On the other hand, chickens should be boiled or half fried with sesame oil before they are well cooked with some herbs. Thorny chicken has a unique flavor and is good to your health. When you come to Toushe, don’t forget to have a taste of this delicious dish of Siraya tribes. The taste will surely go beyond your words to describe it.
